Happy New Year Handprint for Preschoolers

It is the time of year when we say farewell to the previous year and welcome in the new. It's a time for introspection and setting new goals. It's also a time to have fun and celebrate, and what better way to do so than with a fun preschool craft activity?

A handprint "Happy New Year" banner is one idea for a New Year's craft. This is a simple and entertaining activity that your preschoolers will enjoy. It's also a fun way to bring some color and excitement into your classroom.

You'll need the following supplies to make the banner:

1. White paper
2. Paint (in various colors)
3. Scissors
4. Glue
5. String or ribbon

Your preschoolers should first make handprints on the white paper by dipping their hands in the paint. Encourage them to make each handprint from a  different color. After the paint has dried, cut out the handprints and place them somewhere safe.

Next, cut letters from the remaining white paper with the scissors. You'll need to take a pair of scissors to the letters "H", "A", "P", "P", "Y", "N", "E", "W", "Y", "E", "A", "R", "2", "0", "2" and "3". For the letters and numbers you have two options: print out a template or write by hand.

It's time to put together the banner once you've finished cutting out all of the letters and handprints you need. Put some glue on the letters and place them on top of the handprints to spell out "Happy New Year." You are free to arrange the handprints and the letters in any manner that you see fit.

Each handprint should have a hole punched in the top corner so that you can string them together with ribbon or string after the glue has dried. Simply dangle the banner in the front of your classroom, and you're good to go!

Your children in preschool are going to be incredibly proud of their contribution to the classroom decoration when their handprints are put on display for all to see. In addition to that, they will have a good time while simultaneously getting into the spirit of the New Year.
